Tom reached crisis point caring for his grandad. Supported housing helped him rebuild his confidence and train as an engineer.
This story
At fifteen, Tom moved in with his grandad and spent years as his primary carer until the stress led him to consider suicide. He reached out to St Basils for housing, where he initially stayed isolated in his room. Working with a support worker helped him gain confidence, complete engineering training, and prepare for a toolmaking apprenticeship.
