Campaign idea: Thomas is swimming every week
After a spinal cord injury left Thomas reliant on a ventilator, he is now swimming every week.
This story
Thomas has complex, life-threatening care needs following a complete spinal cord injury, which left him with no sensation or motor control below the injury and dependent on a tracheostomy and ventilator. A specialist disability swimming teacher coordinated with NHS staff, physiotherapists, school staff and his parents to plan safe access to the water. Following specialist training and detailed safety procedures, Thomas now attends weekly hydrotherapy sessions and has discovered a love of swimming.
