Campaign idea: A mother fought for her son

A single mother spent years pushing for assessments for her nine-year-old son, discovering how to support his unique blend of needs.

This story

When her son was little, group events for children with Down syndrome overwhelmed him due to his impulses and need for quiet space. It took years of pushing past professionals who attributed everything to his first condition to secure assessments showing he is also autistic and has attention deficit hyperactivity. A move to a special educational needs school transformed his days, and he now enjoys music, Lego, and taekwondo.
