Steve spent 18 years homeless before finding community, and has now rebuilt his life and moved into independent living.
This story
Steve was homeless for 18 years, sleeping under bushes, on benches and by rivers, and was attacked four separate times. Finding a home in Emmaus communities gave him shelter, work opportunities and support, including help claiming his pension. He worked in a charity shop in Hinckley, built a collection of model cars and rare coins, and has now moved into independent living.
