Samara lost one eye in childhood. After high-risk surgery saved her remaining sight, she signed up to run 26 miles.
This story
Samara lost sight in her left eye at age 11 from uveitis linked to juvenile idiopathic arthritis, wearing a prosthetic eye for 33 years. In May 2026, she underwent high-risk surgery on her right eye that successfully restored her vision. Now she is preparing to run the 2027 London Marathon to raise funds for the eye hospital team who treated her.
