Campaign idea: Neil returned to his police career
At 24, Neil was left unable to walk after an on-duty injury. Specialist rehabilitation helped him return to a 30-year policing career.
This story
In 1993, an escaping offender landed on 24-year-old police officer Neil, causing head and severe spinal injuries that left him unable to walk. Facing potential medical retirement, he attended the Police Treatment Centre in Harrogate for intensive physiotherapy and rehabilitation. He rebuilt his mobility, returned to operational policing, and went on to serve internationally for more than 30 years.
