After hearing loss ended Michael's military career, he retrained to pursue a degree in marine biology.
This story
Michael served in the Royal Marines for ten years before being medically discharged due to hearing loss in June 2020. During lockdown, with bills to pay and children to care for at home, he struggled to fund a college access course in science and maths. With financial support from the charity to cover his course fees and equipment, he received an offer to study marine biology and oceanography at Plymouth University.
