This story
Mary was trafficked from Uganda to the UK on the promise of help finding a job, but was kept trapped in an Oxfordshire home and forced to work unpaid as a maid and childminder. With her documents withheld and her freedom denied, she found the strength to speak out and seek help. Her evidence in court led to a prison sentence of more than six years for her trafficker. Supported by Justice & Care, Mary is rebuilding her life and speaking publicly to bring attention to modern slavery.
