Campaign idea: Layan found family at a lunch club

After arriving in Sheffield as an asylum seeker, seven-year-old Layan felt completely alone until a local lunch club welcomed her family.

This story

Seven-year-old Layan and her family were forced to leave the UAE and seek asylum in Sheffield with almost nothing during the pandemic. A health visitor connected them to a church lunch club run by Terence and Vivian, who provided hot meals, baby clothes and nappies after her baby sister was born. Now settled, the family consider the club like family, and her mother Bouchra hopes to volunteer there to support others.
