Katy spent decades adapting to myotonic dystrophy. Today she balances raising her child with supporting others who share the condition.
This story
Katy was diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy at 12 and began experiencing mobility issues in her early twenties. Her condition has progressed to where she can hardly walk and uses an electric wheelchair, supported by her husband as her full-time carer. Alongside raising her young child, she volunteers as a peer supporter for others with the condition.
