Campaign idea: Katie kept moving after her transplant
Katie received a heart transplant at 32 and gave her old heart to science. Now 41, she hikes and paddleboards.
This story
Katie was diagnosed with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy at 20, a rare disease that weakens the heart's muscle structure. She had a heart transplant at age 32 and agreed to donate her removed heart to scientific research. Now living in Bournemouth, she stays active outdoors with her donor heart, which she nicknamed Alfie.
