Campaign idea: Joel walked across London
After fleeing Nigeria for organising a Pride protest, Joel rebuilt his life as an activist and set out to walk across London.
This story
In 2019, Joel fled Nigeria after organising the country's first month-long Pride protest, arriving in the UK to seek safety. After enduring assault in detention and facing barriers to higher education, he went on to study global development in York. In 2025, he organised a walk across London to raise funds and awareness for displaced people.
