Following a separation, Ian was living on his own, dealing with depression and struggling to feed himself properly. He started attending free community meals, which gave him regular company, improved his mental health and helped him manage his diabetes. After three years as a regular guest, he became a volunteer and now leads front-of-house hosting teams at two weekly meal sessions in Sheffield.
