Campaign idea: Haroon gets his city moving
Haroon walked past the canal for years without stepping onto it. Now he uses it to help his city get moving.
This story
Haroon took up marathon running a decade ago and discovered the local towpath as a calm, green space to train. Knowing many neighbours avoided the canal because of stigma around safety, he began finding ways to connect local families with the water. Through his organisation and local partners, he is introducing residents to walking, cycling, fishing and outdoor events along the canal.
