Campaign idea: Grantham cleared 100 bags of debris
Grantham RiverCare sprang into action when devastating floods hit their riverbanks, clearing 100 bags of debris to restore the waterway.
This story
For over two decades, Grantham RiverCare has looked after a stretch along the River Witham, growing to a team of over 65 volunteers. When devastating floods hit in January 2025, the team issued flood alerts, set up a hot drinks hub, and cleared 100 bags of debris once waters receded. They also shared detailed observations to help finalise the official flood report and write a weekly column in the local paper.
