Gloria stopped working as a hairdresser to provide round-the-clock care at home for her husband, Christopher, after his vascular dementia progressed. With English as her second language and her social networks gone, she became deeply isolated. A local support worker helped her secure a carers grant for replacement care and weekly taxi rides, giving her a break to meet people again.
