Campaign idea: Gareth is Wales' top over-40 runner
Gareth reached a crisis point in a hotel room. Now he is Wales' top over-40 runner at 1500m.
This story
After a relationship breakdown and work stress led to a crisis in September 2023, Gareth called Samaritans from a hotel room. With their support as a sounding board, he changed jobs, sold his house, finalised his divorce, and ran the Berlin Marathon in 3 hours 42 minutes. He has since qualified as an athletics official and become the top-ranked runner in Wales aged over 40 at 1500m.
