This story
Ellie was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy type two as a baby, a degenerative condition that causes her muscles to waste away. In 2023, her mental health deteriorated to the point where she left school and stopped eating, leaving her family desperate for help. Respite care and home visits from a children's hospice helped Ellie heal, make friends with other children in wheelchairs, and return to her love of creative writing.
