Campaign idea: Alan volunteers to help others
Alan became homeless after his drinking spiralled following the death of his daughter. Today, he volunteers with the Sandwich People.
This story
After his daughter died in 2006, Alan began drinking heavily while working as a scaffolder. He eventually walked away, took four days to reach London on foot, and was admitted to hospital from exhaustion before sleeping rough in a park. Following time in a night shelter and detox, he found stability and now volunteers at a centre helping others.
