Make content about: Yidan designed a new kidney test
After her father was diagnosed with late-stage kidney disease, Yidan designed a colour-changing toilet freshener to spot early warning signs.
This story
A decade after noticing subtle changes without pain, Yidan's father was diagnosed with mid-to-late-stage chronic kidney disease that could not be reversed. In response, Yidan developed a toilet freshener that changes colour to signal potential kidney problems without requiring clinics or tests. With support from two teammates, she is now taking the prototype to a national engineering enterprise final.
