Make content about: Verity is back tap dancing on stage
Verity needed emergency open-heart surgery after her heart valve failed. Now she is back tap dancing and performing on stage.
This story
Verity was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy at six months old, but became severely unwell when a leaking valve caused seventy percent of her blood to flow backwards. The children's air ambulance flew her from Liverpool to Newcastle for urgent open-heart surgery, saving nearly five hours of travel time. After a week in hospital, she recovered her strength, passed her tap-dancing exam, and returned to drama club and theatre shows.
