Make content about: Vanessa found safety and a new home
Vanessa fled violence with no money or medication. With safe accommodation found, she took steps toward a secure future.
This story
Vanessa arrived in the UK from South America at 31 and was placed in an immigration hostel where she did not feel safe disclosing she was a trans woman. After being repeatedly assaulted by men from the neighbourhood, she fled to a police station without her belongings, money or essential medication. An advocate helped her secure emergency accommodation, replacement medicine and income, before supporting her into suitable housing.
