Make content about: Thomas is back at school
Born with a rare heart condition, Thomas received an urgent transplant at eleven and is now back at school.
This story
Thomas was diagnosed at birth with Carvajal Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that caused his heart muscle to thicken. His older sister Aliesha died from a sudden cardiac arrest at eight years old, and his sister Lucy later needed a heart transplant at fourteen. When Thomas became unwell and his heart function fell, he underwent a five-hour heart transplant at age eleven. A year after the operation, he had recovered and returned to school.
