Make content about: Young people built wildlife habitats
A group of unemployed young people on the Isle of Wight pushed through record floods to build new wildlife habitats.
This story
Joining a twelve-week training and confidence programme, a team of young people took on a two-week outdoor project to create habitats at a local nature reserve. Despite persistent rain and severe flooding turning the ground to heavy clay, they dug a wildlife pond and built a stumpery, dormouse boxes and an insect hotel. Solitary bees and a dragonfly have since arrived at the pond, and insects have begun moving into the hotel.
