Make content about: A maker lent tools from his garage
A founder in Hull started lending tools from his garage. Today his library of 800 items has saved the community £250,000.
This story
After noticing the same second-hand film scanner being bought and resold repeatedly, a maker in Hull began lending his own tools and household items from his garage. Two social investment grants helped move the project into dedicated premises, recruit volunteers and expand the collection to more than 800 items. The project now runs lockers for popular items, monthly repair cafes and a club where children dismantle old appliances to learn how they work.
