After falling critically ill on a family holiday, 11-year-old Sophie was diagnosed with Addison's disease and now helps others spot the signs.

This story

Sophie suffered repeated illnesses that doctors initially mistook for sickness bugs and croup. During a trip to Disneyland Paris in October 2024, she became critically ill with low blood sugar and sodium and was rushed to intensive care. Doctors diagnosed her with Addison's disease, and after receiving emergency treatment she returned home to South Uist to adapt to daily medication and care.
