Sherif built an international career as an English teacher before returning to Britain, where agency work dried up and left him living in a tent. Support from a local day centre led him to an interview with Emmaus Oxford, where he was offered a room and work on furniture collection vans. He has since spent months clearing overgrown gardens and preparing for forklift training.
