Diagnosed with a rare blood cancer at 44, Sandra spent six years on active monitoring before starting chemotherapy and targeted tablets. In 2020, she spent four weeks in hospital with coronavirus and blood clots in her lungs, having to pause her cancer treatment. She joined a clinical trial for a new medication in 2021, which she continues to take today after recently celebrating her 60th birthday.
