Make content about: Mark returned to plant science

Given a one-in-three chance of surviving a sudden brain haemorrhage, Mark recovered and returned to his work in plant science.

This story

In July 2021, Mark suffered a sudden brain haemorrhage on a beach and was given a one-in-three chance of leaving alive. Emergency medical crews saved his life, and after months of rehabilitation he made a full recovery and returned to full-time laboratory research in February 2022. Alongside his work, he studies butterflies and helps fundraise for the air ambulance team that treated him.
