Make content about: Lizzie finally has dedicated care

Lizzie's family spent decades fighting a rigid system for support. Now, they finally have dedicated care and hope for her future.

This story

Lizzie was born with a rare chromosome disorder that leaves her functioning at the level of a toddler and needing round-the-clock supervision. For years, her mother and stepfather faced intrusive questioning, tribunal battles, and local authority formulas that cut her care to a minimum. After a legal caseworker stepped in to challenge the council, an autism lead social worker approved a new care package with one-to-one support. The family is now searching for a safe residential placement for Lizzie, while her stepfather Kevin helps other unpaid carers navigate the system.

Where you could take it

Sit down with Lizzie, Karen, and Kevin at home to see how their daily routine works and talk about finding the right residential home.
