Make content about: Kersten explored insulin's history
After a sudden type 1 diabetes diagnosis at 41, Kersten turned to science history to process life on daily insulin.
This story
Just before turning 42, Kersten developed sudden fatigue, weight loss, and extreme thirst, leading to an immediate diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. To cope with the shock of daily insulin injections, the former molecular biologist turned science historian began researching the human story behind the medicine's discovery. Living with the condition for over ten years, he now uses a continuous glucose monitor and has published a book exploring insulin's history.
Where you could take it
Sit down with Kersten to talk about how researching the history of insulin helped him adapt to living with diabetes.
