Kate's sister Alison died in December 2023 after a struggle with alcoholism. Running has always helped Kate through hard times, and Alison was always proud of her achievements. Now Kate and a couple of friends are preparing to run an ultramarathon on the anniversary of her death, preceded by a month of sobriety.
