Jordan found it difficult to interact with people because of his Asperger syndrome and would only give one-word answers. After signing up at an open day in Burnley, he began volunteering along the canal, clearing towpaths, doing heavy lifting and learning to canoe. The role built his confidence to chat with visitors and talk with customers at his café job.
