Make content about: John is preparing to live in orbit
John lost his right leg at 19. Now the former Paralympian is preparing to live and work in orbit.
This story
John lost his right leg in a motorcycle accident at 19 and later became an NHS surgeon and Paralympic sprinter. The European Space Agency selected him in 2022 to assess how physical disabilities can be accommodated safely on long space missions, and doctors medically cleared him for flight. Under a proposed agreement, he could travel to a commercial space station as early as 2027 to study prosthetics and muscle changes in zero gravity.
Where you could take it
Meet with John to talk through his training and the prosthetic research he plans to carry out in orbit.
