Make content about: Joan pushed for accountability

Joan was an active outdoor youth worker until a contaminated blood transfusion derailed her health and forced her to rebuild her life.

This story

In 1991, Joan contracted hepatitis C from a blood transfusion during surgery, leaving her with chronic fatigue and forcing her to step back from leading mountain expeditions. In 2003, she endured an aggressive year-long drug trial that caused lasting physical harm and post-traumatic stress. She later became a core participant in the Infected Blood Inquiry to push for truth and accountability.
