Worried that rising living costs would exclude children from school celebrations, Jimena and fellow parents introduced an option on ticket slips for families to sponsor places. The scheme funded 48 places for a disco, and remaining funds were used during a Christmas fair so every child could visit stalls and take home prizes. The approach proved so successful that it became their standard model for all future events.
