Make content about: Janet's pain finally had a name
Janet was repeatedly told her agony was just a slipped disc. It was a grapefruit-sized spinal tumour.
This story
In September 2018, Janet woke in agonising pain that left her unable to walk on her left leg, and she borrowed a neighbour's wheelchair to get around. For three months her symptoms were dismissed as a bad back, until scans revealed an osteosarcoma twisted around her spinal cord, leaving her days away from paralysis. After two major surgeries, chemotherapy cut short by sepsis and 37 sessions of proton beam therapy, she now walks with sticks at home, uses a wheelchair outside, and shares her story to raise awareness of bone sarcoma.
Where you could take it
Sit down with Janet at home to discuss her fight to be scanned and what life looks like after surviving spinal bone cancer.
