Make content about: Elsie got space to just be a child

Elsie spends her days caring for her mum and little brother. Respite breaks have given her space to just be a child.

This story

Elsie is a young carer supporting her mum, who lives with a functional neurological disorder, fibromyalgia and chronic migraines. Along with helping when her mum falls or experiences sudden drops in blood sugar, Elsie helps look after her younger brother with meals, showers and bedtime routines. After a referral from pastoral staff at school, she has attended two respite breaks where she can cycle safely, make art and enjoy time for herself.

Where you could take it

Spend an afternoon making art with Elsie while talking about her band, her reading, and what it is like caring for her family.
