Make content about: Denise volunteers at a hospice

After losing her mum, Denise painted the sunrise every morning for a year before becoming a hospice volunteer.

This story

Following her mum's death in 2022 and her aunt's dementia diagnosis, Denise coped with her grief by painting the sunrise every morning for a full year. An exhibition of her paintings in Birmingham connected her to a hospice charity. She now volunteers on an inpatient unit in Warwick, visits a 90-year-old neighbour weekly, and donates craft fair proceeds from her art.

Where you could take it

Join Denise at a craft fair where she sells her paintings to talk about her routine and her volunteer work.
