Given an incurable cancer diagnosis, Clare decided to ignore the prognosis and started photographing dogs for a charity book.

This story

In March 2025, photographer Clare was diagnosed with mesothelioma, an incurable asbestos-related cancer, and given a five-year prognosis. Choosing to accept the diagnosis but ignore the prognosis, she created The Dog Book Project to combine her love of photography and dogs. She offers free photoshoots to compile pet portraits and stories into a coffee table book supporting Mesothelioma UK.
