Make content about: Young rowers won national bronze
Chester-le-Street Amateur Rowing Club kept fees low to make the sport accessible, and their young rowers are now winning national medals.
This story
Founded in 1888 on the River Wear, Chester-le-Street Amateur Rowing Club is a volunteer-led club dedicated to making rowing accessible to everyone. After facing difficult years, the club built a cafe and social space and used grant funding to buy new junior boats and oars. The club now coaches over 50 juniors almost daily, with two fifteen-year-old members recently winning a national bronze medal in Nottingham.
