Casey stopped grime MCing at nineteen after realising his lyrics about violence were having a negative impact on his surroundings. He returned to writing at twenty-two while running a school rap and poetry club for disengaged students. He went on to become Birmingham Poet Laureate and perform on concert hall stages, while also working as an assistant headteacher.
