When Ally was eight, her mother was given six months to live due to a rare neurological condition, but lived for three more years in a hospice home. That care allowed their family to share birthdays, movie nights and normal childhood routines until her mother died. Now an adult, Ally works as an independent researcher in palliative care and is preparing to run 26 miles.
