Make content about: Aldona stopped drinking completely

Aldona struggled with daily drinking and language barriers until a recovery group in her native tongue helped her choose sobriety.

This story

Referred for support during lockdown while drinking daily and working agency jobs, Aldona found it difficult to participate in peer groups due to her English. Her keyworker helped set up a group for other language speakers and sent recovery reading in Lithuanian. After being hospitalised with advanced tuberculosis, Aldona stopped drinking completely and now attends weekly online support meetings while taking up knitting.

Where you could take it

Sit down with Aldona to knit together and hear how finding support in her own language helped her sustain sobriety.
